Picture this, I’m 22, fresh out of college, standing in pouring rain at a bus station in rural Chile. My cheap backpack split open, spilling my belongings onto the muddy ground. My so-called “waterproof” jacket  soaked through, and my “durable” boots falling apart at the seams.

That moment changed everything.
It became clear that proper gear isn’t just about being comfortable – it’s about turning potential disasters into unforgettable adventures.
15 years later I’ve visited 78 countries across all seven continents. From trekking the Andes to navigating bustling bazaars in Marrakech, from photographing the Northern Lights to scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef. Every journey has been a lesson in what works and what doesn’t work and why.
But Byuonde isn’t just about my experiences. Over the years, I’ve connected with fellow travelers, gear designers, and outdoor experts worldwide. I’ve used hundreds of products in real-world conditions, sometimes pushing gear to its breaking point (and yes, occasionally breaking it).
What I’ve learned is that the right gear empowers you to say “yes” to opportunities, to venture further, and to focus on the journey instead of worrying about your equipment.
